The Start of my Journey

As a current college freshman I am currently on a journey to becoming a better me. Facing struggles within myself and a recently ended relationship, I am not at the best place in life. Soon all of this is going to change. I will share my progress and growth in my journey to inspire others as I move on to bigger and better things in life. I understand that I will continue to face many obstacles so let the journey begin.

  1. I hope you had a good first semester and a good start to your second. If you don’t mind if like to offer a bit of advice: be selfish. Everything leading up to this point you’ve been walking on a path progressively self directed but guided by your parents and your elders’ expectations. Once you graduate and are finished with school you’ll have to do a lot of things to appease a lot of other people I.e. A boss, a significant other and maybe eventually kids. That being said there’s no better time than now to truly worry about youself and only you. That doesn’t mean seclude yourself from the rest of the world or treat the friends you’ve made like they’re not important. What it does mean is do whatever is putting yourself in your best interest. Don’t let your relationships dictate or define you; you’ll have time to let them add to your definition later. Don’t let anyone’s problems get you down, not even you own.

    1. Thank you so much for your advice. I really needed to hear that. Although sometimes I feel like I am battling an internal battle between who I am and who I want to be; I feel like my life is getting better day by day. Sunday when I went out with some old friends from last semester I realized that those people where never my real friends. Lately I have been trying to be a better person day by day, but each day I feel closer and closer to happiness. The biggest obstacle that I’m fighting right now is letting go of my past. Once again thank you so much.
